A folding toe piece is kind of similar to a wearing a parchute when flying: When you need it you really need it. After bending a couple rear brake levers in minor low sides I fitted a folding toe piece. A folding toe piece doesn't bend footpeg hangars or snap off in a crash to the degree that fixed toe pieces do; the Woodcraft folding toe piece is nicely made and designed to take a fair amount of abuse; the spring mechanism is stiff enough to work well but not fold backward under heavy braking so its just what I needed.

If you need to replace the toe part, spend the extra $8 (at time of writing) for the folding one. Track day/race bike will experience a high gravity zone at some point, do yourself a favor & have these on your bike.
